About this home

Set quietly within the established neighborhood of Lakeside Farms, this 1953 ranch doesn’t try to impress you, it simply earns it. At first glance, it’s the kind of home people underestimate. A wide lot stretching just over a quarter acre. Clean lines. Vinyl siding that has seen years but not neglect. A covered front porch that doesn’t shout for attention, but invites you to sit anyway. Step inside, and the story sharpens. Hardwood floors run throughout the main level, catching light in a way only real wood can: subtle, warm, honest. Two bedrooms sit comfortably across 864 square feet of above-grade living space. The dining area carries a touch of personality with custom cabinetry, one of those small details that tells you someone cared about this house beyond just living in it. And then there’s the basement. Not finished, not forced into something it’s not. Just open, clean, and ready. Whether it becomes a second living area, workspace, or something else entirely, that part of the story hasn’t been written yet. This isn’t a basement you dread showing. It’s a blank canvas ready for your vision. Out back, the screened-in porch does what screened-in porches are supposed to do: it slows things down. Morning coffee without bugs. Evening air without interruption. It’s not flashy but it’s exactly right. Furnace, AC (HVAC) and water heater are 5 months old. Roof is less than 3 years old. And location? You’re tucked into Independence with quick access to shopping, dining, and Kansas City life just down the road. Close enough for convenience, far enough to breathe. Now let’s be honest. This isn’t a showpiece. It’s not trying to win a design award or land on TV. It’s something better. It’s a house that’s been lived in, cared for, and left with room for the next person to make theirs. A true starter home: not in the “settle for this” sense, but in the “build your life here” sense. And that piece of the dream is getting harder to find.
