About this home

WOW! WHAT A LOCATION, AND WITH A 10 YEAR TAX ABATEMENT IN PLACE! Seller open to possible property trades or partial owner finance, With 7,650 square feet of luxurious living space spread over 3 levels, you're invited into a world of nostalgia, history & resplendence on a quiet street with spectacular views of KC's downtown & midtown skylines. The house was built in 1887 by Nathan Scarritt for his daughter Ann & her husband Bishop Eugene Hendrix & is located across the street from the recent $25 million renovation of Corinthian Hall & adjacent to Historic Scarritt Point’s stately mansions. Not all historical details remained after nearly 140 years but some exquisite components remain or were uncovered during this extensive renovation. Many of these key historic features were incorporated into the redesign including the grand staircase, pocket doors, balcony access windows & fireplaces. The entire interior was rebuilt from the existing studs. Old deteriorating plaster was removed, new wiring, plumbing & HVAC incorporated, then interior walls were refinished & new hardwood floors installed. Quality, equal to or exceeding the original craftsmanship, is evident in every space as you tour this revival. Your guests will have ample space for holiday family gatherings. The breathtaking grand staircase, fireplace mantels, restored pocket doors & 16 inch crown molding with 11 foot ceilings take elegance to its highest level. Entering the foyer from a covered 275 sq ft porch you’ll find a secluded spacious study to the left. A bright south-facing kitchen includes a circular breakfast area, granite surfaces, center island, downdraft cooktop, icemaker & pocket doors. A generous dining room with butler’s hall & pantry includes an elegant chandelier, fireplace & outdoor access to the veranda & brick patio. A 1st floor bedroom suite & laundry area is also conveniently located near the side door entrance. See 'agent info' for 2nd & 3rd floor details.
