About this home

Designed by the famous architecture firm Roots & Siemens, this Spanish Eclectic home was deemed "a house that is different" at the time it was built. The uniqueness carried on throughout the next rounds of renovations creating a ship in what was the first floor library and the addition of art deco elements. Featuring many original features such as the oak hardwood floors throughout, wood trim details on the walls of the front living room, the craftsman coffered ceilings in the formal dining room, and doors. The full bathroom in the center of the house also has an original and unique turret allowing tons of natural light. It is said the original owner has this put in so he could watch the planes fly over. The main floor also features three bedrooms with one of them having a half bath attached and an expansive sunroom off of the rear allowing you tons of opportunities for use! Either taking the spiral "ship" staircase down or the main staircase off of the kitchen, you will end up in the finished lower level where things get even more unique. Room one is the billiards room off of the attached garage. This large room offers tons of windows for natural light. There is also a second half bathroom and laundry room/kitchenette nearby. Then you enter the grand hall with soaring ceilings, wood paneling all the way around, a wet bar, and a central fireplace. Up a few short stairs lead you to the side yard walkout and to another unique original feature of the home, the indoor pool located under the front porch. So much outdoor entertaining potential from the backyard with views of the Kansas City Museum or the expansive covered front porch overlooking Windsor Avenue. You can also find a detached 2-car garage in the rear giving you tons of parking or storage space. There is no shortage of charm or uniqueness in this one-of-a-kind home and still has plenty of room to add your own touches! Located in the Scarritt Point historic district and minutes from downtown Kansas City!
